The strongest storm of the year is headed for the Philippines, and is likely to make landfall in the Visayas region around 24 hours from now as a Category 4 typhoon. Right now, Haiyan is a Category 5 super typhoon with sustained winds of 175mph and a central pressure around 908mb. After passing through the Philippines, Haiyan may still be a significant typhoon as it crosses the South China Sea. The storm is expected to make a final landfall in Vietnam around four days from now, still as a typhoon, before dissipating inland.
